During June, July and August 2018 we consulted on our proposals with stakeholders, local residents and businesses in the vicinity, where members of the project team were on hand to talk through the latest proposals and answer questions. A copy of the exhibition boards from the 23 July consultation event can be viewed here.

The project team also undertook consultation with a number of technical and other consultees, covering heritage, design review and statutory undertakings.

As a result of feedback from the consultation and additional meetings with stakeholders, a number of changes/updates were made to the scheme. These included improvements to servicing/access, landscaping and surveillance, as well as sympathetic stepping back of the rooftop extension adjacent to the spire of the Church of St John the Baptist and an increase in active frontages on Nelson Street. Our proposals also took into account Bristol City Council’s emerging scheme for improvements to the cycle contra-flow on Nelson Street.

All changes/updates to the scheme were incorporated within the planning submission, culminating in the Planning Application and Design & Access Statement.

The planning application was granted permission on the 3rd July 2019, subject to conditions. Click here to view the Notice of Decision.
